Wenn der sonore Bass von Barry White durch die Boxen seinen Weg zu den rhythmisch schwingenden H\u00fcften der anwesenden Damen findet und dann die Streicher sanft, einer Feder gleich \u00fcber die kaum verh\u00fcllten R\u00fccken gleiten, dann, ja dann f\u00fchlt sich der Frankfurter DJ Chui pudelwohl. Sein Geschmack ist musikalisch in den 70er und 80er Jahren gereift (der Plattensammlung der Eltern sei dank), von damaligen Innovateuren wie Barry White, James Brown oder den Kultrappern Run DMC gepr\u00e4gt worden, hat sich aber seitdem stetig weiterentwickelt. Bereits im l\u00e4ssigen Alter von gerade einmal 12 Jahren begann die Faszination f\u00fcr jegliche Form von Beats. Anl\u00e4sslich der DMC DJ Weltmeisterschaft und einer grandiosen Performance von DJ Cash Money war es um den Steppke Chui geschehen. Doch es sollten noch einige Jahre vergehen \u2013 schlie\u00dflich galt es erstmal Vollj\u00e4hrigkeit zu erreichen \u2013 bis DJ Chui sich vom Wohnzimmer-Beschaller zum Club-DJ entwickelte. Auf dem Weg dahin hat es sich Chui allerdings nicht nehmen lassen und bereits im Kinderzimmer mit besagter Musikinspiration zu experimentieren und erste Produktionen vorzulegen.<\/p>\n
Seinen ersten Club fand DJ Chui dann 1998 im Cookies, wo er seinen Hiphop und R&B Stil verfeinerte und seither reihen sich die von ihm mit sanften Rhythmen und dicken Beats versehen Clubs zu einem Who-is-who der Rhein-Main-Szene: Nachtleben, BMW Haus, Holiday Inn, Opium, Jazz Keller, Capitol, Lofthaus und O25. Selbst die Nordlichter 5 Sterne Deluxe konnten an so viel geballter Beat-Power nicht vorbei und engagierten Chui f\u00fcr ihr Mainzer Warm-Up. Doch Chui hatte die Tage im Wohnzimmer und die Plattensammlung seiner Eltern nicht vergessen. Seine R&B-Sound wurde daher immer vielseitiger, er versah seine Sets mit Funk, Jazz, Dance, House und allem, was groovt und die Tanzfl\u00e4che zum Vibrieren bringt. Die fantastische Reihe der Clubnamen wurde l\u00e4nger: Gest\u00fct Renz, Ima Multibar, Club Goldfish, Cubique. Kein Wunder also, dass der wohl angesagteste Club der Gegend \u2013 das Bristol Hotel \u2013 ihn zum Resident f\u00fcr den Nightcrawler machten. Seit dem legt Chui nicht nur f\u00fcr die Clubg\u00e4nger auf, sondern hat es in die Luxusliga geschafft \u2013 seine Buchungen bei Tiffany\u2019s, Bulgari und den \u201eThe Pure\u201c \u2013 Hotels sprechen hier B\u00e4nde.<\/p>\n
Doch Chui ist kein abgehobener Jetsetter. Er ist bodenst\u00e4ndig geblieben, und er hat den Kreis zumindest bildlich geschlossen. Denn er ist zur\u00fcckgekehrt ins Wohnzimmer. Nicht in das seiner Eltern \u2013 Gott bewahre \u2013 aber in das Wohnzimmer der Frankfurter Szene. Denn er fungiert derzeit als Resident des APT \u2013 Apartment. Und eben hier ist er dann so richtig zu Hause, wenn er sich musikalisch austoben kann \u2013 mit Soul, Funk, House und eben den besagten Dance-Classics. Da brummt dann der wohlige Ton von Barry White aus den Boxen und die Ladies schmelzen dahin.<\/p>\n

It is that time of night \u2013 Barry White’s sombre bass vox slides over the dancefloor and finds the rhythmically moving hips of the ladies, while the accompanying orchestral strings silkenly caress the skin of the dancers. It is that time of night \u2013 and Frankfurt based DJ Chui loves it, waits for it, lives for it. Finding his appetite for music in the 70s and 80s through his parents record collection, his taste has been strongly influenced by\u00a0\u00a0 innovators such as Barry White, James Brown or rap stars like Run DMC, but has grown\u00a0 consistently ever since. Even at so young an age as 12 years old his fascination for beats\u00a0 was fully developed \u2013 not in small part due to an astonishing performance by DJ Cash Money at the DMC DJ World Championships. It still took a while before DJ Chui reached maturity and finally changed lanes \u2013 from livingroom bravado to full-size club skills. This of course never stopped Chui from experimenting with said tastes and inspirations in order to put out his first productions.<\/p>\n
In 1998 then, DJ Chui finally scored his first club gig at Cookies \u2013 fusing his hiphop and R&B styles to form a unique set of mellow rhythms and phat beats. A set that resonated with allmost every single location of name and rank in the Frankfurt area: Nachtleben, BMW Haus, Holiday Inn, Opium, Jazz Keller, Capitol, Lofthaus and O25. This impressed Hamburg rap veterans\u00a05 Sterne Deluxe<\/b>\u00a0so much, they got Chui to warm-up their crowd at their gig in Mainz. All the while Chui never forgot his livingroom days and the ultimate record collection of classics that his parents had assembled. In consequence, his R&B sound crew more eclectic \u2013 adding to the sets some sprinkles of funk, jazz, dance and house. His list of bookings and residencies grew steadily: Gest\u00fct Renz, Ima Multibar, Club Goldfish, Cubique. Is it any wonder that the most exclusiv club of the area \u2013 Bristol Hotel \u2013 would want him to reside at Nightcrawler? No, and ever since Chui has moved his djing to another level \u2013 the luxury level of\u00a0 Tiffany\u2019s, Bulgari and \u201eThe Pure\u201c-hotels.<\/p>\n
But Chui is not a jet setting bighead. He stayed rooted and has come full circle, at least metaphorically. He returned to the livingroom \u2013 not that of his parents. No Sir-ee Bob! He set himself up in Frankfurt’s most exclusiv livingroom \u2013 the APT (Apartment). His residency there has given him the ultimate opportunity to mix his styles \u2013 Soul, Funk, House, and disco-style Danceclassics.
